What books to buy @ BMICH Colombo International Book fair 2011

Update: Colombo International Book Fair 2011 will be held at the BMICH from Saturday, September 17 at 9:30am – September 25 at 9:00pm.

Organizers of this popular book exhibition, Sri Lanka Book Publishers Association said that there will be around 300 – 400 local and foreign book stalls.

Many people buy school text books and even exercise book, as they are given discounts here.

‘Vidyodaya Literary Awards Ceremony 2010’ organized by the Sinhala and Mass Communication Department of the Sri Jayawardenepura University award books based on unbiased recommendation by knowledgeable University academics. Books awarded at recent award ceremony held on August, 2010 are follows:

    I am looking for a book writen by a local srilankan author in english and its a number one bestseller on the list. it could be a non-fiction or fiction book. i prefer the book is written with a storyline that reflects the sri lanka’s history and cultures. i am collecting book esp. number 1 bestseller from countries i have visited. i missed the bookstore when i was in sri lanka 2009. can somebody help me? thank you.

    Book fair is good but few book sellers in Engineering Medicine and Computer than expected.

    BookFair එක නම් නියමයි! BMICH Car park එක ඇතුලට දාගන්න වට තුනක් කැරකෙන්න වුනා. වාහන ඇතුලට ගත්තෙම නෑ. Full කියලා බෑම කිව්වා.

    You missed the point.
    You can have all the book shops under one roof. isn’t that great.

    It is better to buy books from a book shop rather than in this crowded book exhibiton. somtimes you cannot even select a book because of crowd.

    Ms. Sunethra Rajakarunanayake received the Presidential award for ‘best novel of the year’ (2008) for her novel “The Common Husband”.
