I currently complete the first year and am in second year now. This is a pretty good choice for those who want to study in Sri Lanka for a BSc(Hons) in Chemistry.

Right now, a research component is also offered in the final year.

The overall cost can be 300000-400000 depending on how you pay. You get a discount if you pay the full fee in advance. There are also 12 scholarships available. Eligibility is determined by an exam.

As compared to national universities, I must admit that IChemC is still a professional body and offering professional qualifications. It's not a real university and so you'd be missing on the inter-faculty experiences and a huge student body. However, the student body is extremely friendly and welcoming. And, almost all national festivals are celebrated. There's no ragging in here unlike in most government universities.

In terms of quality of education, it's in par with University of Colombo or University of Jayawardenepura or any national university in western province and in some aspects even better. The lecture panel consists mainly of visiting lectures from government universities.

Almost all the lecturers are PhD qualified including even the introductory language course lecturers.

All lectures are conducted in English. The course content is also excellent.

I also agree, only a few find jobs suitable for the time + money spent. I also had a hard time as I had to do this course while working so only got a second lower. If you study without doing anything else like some people who have posted here you can do well but at the end of th day its all about rote learning. In terms of lectureres, its second to none but in terms of instruments, it used secondary school stuff till recently.
